fuel pump circuit
I have a 2000 S-type that rode home on the back of a carrier after the fuel pump stopped. what is in the "control circuit" that would not allow the pump to run? It ran fine then it was parked for a few minutes and then it would not run, it started but would not idle. This is my mom's pride and joy and I pay my rent for the privledge of living in her converted garage apartment in the back yard in exchange for keeping her vehicles running. Thirty years ago I knew how Bosch "L" fuel injection worked, but I have not had to work on a system for twenty years and over Thanksgiving I had a minor stroke that affected some of my memory so things that are in the long term memory are hard to retrieve. I want to get the beast to run so that she can drive it short distances. I am thinking a relay or fuse or something like that. It would start but not idle, I just need to know where to start to make the fuel pump run to build the pressure to keep it running.
For sure check fuses & relays, but pumps do sometimes fail.
Search on here will get you all the details of replacing one if you need to do so.

To add to JagV8 - Definitely sounds like a failed fuel pump - I would test the fuel pressure at the rail - cold engine with key to start (but don't crank the engine) - fuel pressure should be at least 40 psi or higher.
You can also check the inertia switch driver's side under dash - but if that was tripped (red button) you would get a "no start" condition.
Another area to look at - the fuel filter - when was it last changed? The fuel filter is something many owners forget about and not change... Good Luck..
