Hi. I am a new jag owner and am trying to find the fuse that controls the passenger seat, as the seat will no longer move forward or backwards. I am posting on this thread as I cannot figure out how to start a new thread. THis is for a 2000 S series. Thanks! I'll go intro myself in the new member section.

It's fuse F11 in the trunk/boot, as per the owners manual.

In one of your other posts you mention that the seat moves up/down, just not fore/aft. Since all functions are on the same fuse, this is not the cause.

Might be the switch or motor.

 

Mikey, thank you for that info. I checked that fuse, in the manual and the online info I had, and it comes up as the heaters. we thought that was a little off base, so we did the lumbar. But we (my husband and I) dont know much about these things. So we were happy to hear your validation - I thought if the switch worked one way (up/down) but not the other (front/back) then it probl'ly wasn't a fuse. We figured it might be a fuse though b/c we just had a sound system installed.

Yeah, i guess at this point I will have to tell my boys just to deal with it. I bought them the "awesome" car, they paid for the KA sound system. So now we have no budget to fix the seat - I just told them to get smaller friends, b/c the seat is half way to the dash. Was hoping it was the fuse - simple fix. bummer!!! but still a cool car! thanks for the info. I'm sure my boys will be on this forum for the next few years; if not for advise, then to drool over the cars!

 

Maybe connector is loose?

In order of probability it's likely to be:

1. seat control switch connector
2. harness from control switch to fore and aft motor
3. fore and aft motor (but seat motors rarely fail)

Love the solution of getting smaller friends LOL. One of the most innovative solutions to a car problem EVER!

Seriously though, if after following the above instructions you determine the switch pack wiring is not disconnected, and we already know it's not a fuse, may I suggest spraying some electrical contact cleaner/lube into the switch? Work the switch back and forth a number of times, as it may be possible some gunk got in there and simply fouled the switch.

Also, is it possible that whomever installed the new sound system tapped into the seat wiring for sound system power and cut the wire that powers this particular adjuster switch? The connection at the switch might look fine, but the wire may be cut/disconnected elsewhere. Perhaps other members of this forum with more knowledge of the S-Type wiring might comment on this possibility.
