Default Tada!

finally got my car back today and so far so good - but only time will tell i guess. they reconditioned the valve body, they replaced the solenoid pack, sent the transmission away and flushed and replaced the fluid. i shall be watching very closely for leaks now as i dont know if they replaced the filter but i would be surprised if they didn't since it cost them $6500 Aud in parts and labour. they also did the readaptation of the box and advised me not to use sports mode for at least 1000 km or more if possible.

since i have a three year warranty its in their best interests to do the job properly.

fingers crossed no more problems for a while.

i think they just kept replacing things until it was fixed so i virtually have a rebuilt transmission now.

Phew! Lots of pain but effectively a renewed tranny. Good on them if they've done it right.

You can drive with Sport much sooner if they did the adaption right (it's done far better with IDS nowadays) - now if you like but say 200miles. Don't baby it for long as you want any issues to surface soon and besides you want it to learn your driving style.

well i would like to think so - i hardly use sport mode but im not going to drive it any differently to how i normally would, as whose pattern is the gearbox going to learn that way lol!

with the 2.5 sport mode doesn't make that much difference - though of course who knows it may now.

just got back from washing the car - even though the yard washed it before handing it back i knew i could get better results - they had obviously left it in the sun to dry.

glad i got it back before Christmas.

Default Gearbox and Engine System Fault

I was driving on the HWY 12/10/10 as I tried to turn on cruise control my car lost power wouldn't go over 10 miles the message gearbox fault, and engine system fault appeared. I pulled over off the hwy turn the off, my car started system message reset. However this morning my car would not start temp outside 17, sounds like a belt maybe loose. Dealer stated issue is with gearbox and engine system fault cost $1912.79 to repaired. Dealer stated the issue with gearbox may have (air) in engine which cause the car not start. Yes this what I was told today. Have anyone experiences this issue before?

Need more information....

For the dealer to quote an exact amount like that, they must have done some diagnosis.. What did they quote as repair work?

How old is your battery? I'm sure a draining / dieing battery will cause ghost faults in the X Type just like it does in the S Type.

Have you read codes yet? If so, what are they.

Also, since it looks like your signature indicates that you have an X Type and not an S Type, have you tried posting in the X Type section? The users there may have better information since the S and X are different cars...
