Now I have found that the global open works, wonderful idea, I am unable to get the global close operating via the remote.

I used to be able to use the key but some bright spark has decided to insert a foreign object into the hole.

Is this a programming issue (global close via remote) or am I SOL?

If 2003 or newer it can be programmed.

Mines at the dealer for a couple of other things, I asked if they could programme the Global Closing, they said no problem but they charge 1hr at $135. Maybe other dealers will be more accomodating!

 

That's crap. I got my drive away lock disabled for $20 during an oil change.

Secondary but on topic. For sure a 2000 S cannot have global close programmed?

 

Some of them can....it depends on the vehicles software. We charge half hour for the job. So about $60.00.

 

Is there a list of what can and cannot be programmed on a 2001? How do I find out what software version I have?

hey how is every one? i have a 03 s-type i have tried to have the Global close programed to my car with the remote, and i took it to two dealers and they both said it cant be done. i told them that other peolpe have it done. they say it cant. be done.were is it is the pid's section on the WDS/IDS. how can i found out how to have it programed. i all sowould like to know what can and cannot be programmed?

 

That would seem more reasonable, but as it is a dealer only thing you either have to pony up or travel to another dealer.

According to the owners manual you cannot global close with the remote only open. It says that you can only global close with the key!

 

Well I can confirm that mine is now opening and closing with the remote, so it is possible.

'03 S Type.

Just simple programmng I believe, the car was in for an AC condenser and reverse sensor module, and they did the open/close mod at the same time.

I remember reading posts a while back saying that some dealers will not do this for some reason and IIRC wether or not is possible depends if your car has the safety clutches fitted to the window mechanisim.

Maybe one of the Techs can confirm this?
