Default Global open (windows) problem.

When I first got my STR, I programmed the fob to activate the global window open option, and it worked as described: Hold unlock button and all windows and sunroof open simultaneously.

Lately I noticed that I have to actually open a door for this to work. ie: it does not work from a distance anymore. The door unlock and trunk open functions still work at a good distance so I assume it is not the battery.

Suggestions?

Bad contact? Fob battery dying?

But those functions are single-press. Global is press and hold. Could be your (FOB) battery is borderline and doesn't support a strong signal for the required elapsed "Hold" time?

Possibly... Only one way to rule out the battery - change it!

Does this mean your global open only works with the key in the the door now? Not from the FOB? Or does it mean global open works fine from the FOB but only after you physically open a door?

I'd try disconnecting the battery and grounding the two leads together for 15-30 sec, then hook everything back up....sometimes the modules get confused and just need a reset.

Well I don't know but I have had problems with a FOB before and the only answer was to replace the whole thing.

I tried battery replacement, cleaning contacts and button replacement but in the end none of it worked and I can't explain why.

I rarely use global open...but have had several occasions where a FOB would quit working for normal lock/unlock....thus far always resolved by using the other FOB a few times or for a week or so and then the errant one returns to the fold and decides to work again for no apparent reason.
