Going backwards

Going backwards
Hello fellow forum members. I used to be a very active member over on the Xtype side. I am very much into modifications and going a little too far as a lot of the x type members eventually made it known that they don't want anything to do with my shenanigans over there so I quit posting lol but I've parted that car out a few years ago and have since picked up a clean, zero rust, low milage, 03 4.2l s type in which I am in the midst of doing some restomods on.
My question is this... I know folks have went from the base audio/climate control unit up to the factory navigation unit but, can you go from the navigation unit down to the base unit? I hate that there isn't an easy way to upgrade the head unit in these jags but I figured if I can go backwards to the base unit I can install an android double din unit like I have in my Jeep which allows for navigation, BT, back up camera, phone mirroring, mobile hotspot etc...
Thanks in advance. Here's a picture of the Jag in its current state since I know most of us like to see pictures lol

I agree with the above. If you wanted to fit an after market head unit it would have been a lot easier to get a car without a nav screen.
However perhaps Jagdroid could well be one way forward for you:

I think everyone is misunderstanding what I want to do. I dont want to just replace the screen, I'm not dumb and I don't appreciate the dumbass replies of "better off replacing the vehicle" because that is such a more in depth adventure than just replacing center dash section.
Seems this side of the forums is just as close minded as the x type side...
What I want to do is go from the ENTIRE navigation dash setup to the ENTIRE base dash setup AND THEN add a double din unit like everyone who has the bash dash set is able to do. I understand that replace just the nav screen with double din, again I'm not dumb and I can very well see that the hvac controls are integrated into the screen but THEY ARE NOT INTEGRATED INTO THE SCREEN ON THE BASE SETUP.
Everyone on this forum is so against anything that requires some work to get where you want your vehicle to be. Not everyone is going to go replace a vehicle because there isn't an "easy" way to get a double din unit. I'm not looking for "easy" I'm looking for info on what I want to do and if you don't have that info then please keep your opinion to yourself.
1st post in on the S Type section and I'm already not coming back lol

That's not the way we communicate on this forum - a 7 Day ban. If you come back at the end of that time I recommend some attitude enhancement on your part or I'll make it a permanent ban.

Perhaps the advice against attempting the task the op was attempting would be better received if there were a summary of all that needs to be done and the difficulty in doing it.
for instance if he knew that in addition to the moderately easy task of installing the components that he would need to modify his CCF and the various other modules on the bus using specific nav/radio/climate system parameters which are not fully documented and most likely bound to brick his car, he would have understood why it would be easier to buy a different car????
