Default Good deal or no?

I have a 2000 S-type V8 with 115k miles on it, Brand new transmission less than 100 miles on it. I have the opportunity to buy an 03 str with 72k miles on it for 15,500. I think he can be talked down a bit, my question is is this a good deal? If i trade mine in on the str how much should i be looking to get for it?

Thanks for the help guys, JP

Last year I took my 01 3.0 with 89000 to three different indie dealers.
Car was mint, they all offered me $4000.00 for trade in.
I sold it privately to the first looker for $7500.00 and this was low compared to similar cars in the area.
I would sell private if you want to recoup some of your invested dollars.

Yea that is a good start, you should be able to get the STR for 13500 OTD if you have good bargaining skills, They want to sell it to the first good offer as it is a 03 on the lot, not many banks will finanace a car that old.....The chips are in your favor

Also sell your car on Craigslist or here on the forum.....You will get more for your money than trading it in.....

Do not buy the dealerships warrenty, you can get your own from several other companys out there with better coverage.....

I have 5yr/100,000 on my STR when I bought it last year bumper to bumper coverage w/ 100 deductable and I paid @3800......Worth it if something goes wrong with 2,346,294 computers on them!

I paid 10,500 for my 03 STR (Black) with 66K miles. Had some cosmetics that needed to be addressed, but after $1.5K for the bumper and grill and door trim, I was only out 12K total. I thought it was a pretty good deal.

No issues thus far other than the valet switch being on...
