Default Got the World STR production numbers.

I called Jag USA last week. They put me in touch with their Archive dept.
I left a message with my question about STR production.
They are only open 2-3 days a week, I never thought they would bother getting back to me.
Friday morning a nice guy named Mike returned my call,I was really surprised and blown away with this type of customer service.
He said most of the numbers will be for the following year since Jag does its production in the late part of the year preceding the actual sticker model year.
01 for the 02 MY 80
02 for the 03 MY 3925
03 for the 04 MY 1168
04 for the 05 MY 1315
05 for the 06 MY 667
06 for the 07 MY 698
07 for the 08 MY 190
Total 8043.
He did a quick scan and said by his estimate 50% looked like they went to the US.
With 03 numbers quite high it answers why we have so many members with the 03 car.Looks like 02 and 08 are VERY rare. Not even sure if 02 was available in the US.
Hope you enjoy.

Greg.

Thanks for finding out and posting the numbers Greg.

Wow the numbers after the 03 MY really are low. So at 50% for the USA I guess about 600 or so here is correct. I'm surprised they even kept offering them as long as they did. But I'm glad they did!

The first and last year numbers will certainly put these cars into the much desired list of collectors.
I am tempted to go look for a 2008 that has very very low mileage and use it as a Sunday cruiser and keep it as original as possible.Tires, air cleaner etc.etc.These won't take long to get in the money for collectors.
190 cars is a low number.Heck all STR's are in the low numbers when you consider 8043 were made, how many are already off the road due to wreckage or so highly modified that they will never be collectable or able to go back to stock condition.
I also wonder how many years we will be able to get OEM or aftermarket parts for.

You could call Jag archives and ask for that info.
I doubt they would dig that deep but you never know till you try.

I though you were getting an STR long time ago? what happened.

A cautionary tale. Having been in the collectors car market for nearly 30 years let me thow out a bit of caution. Low production numbers alone do not guarantee that a car will ever reach a desireabler collector car status. It's a lot more complicated than that. Also, cars will come in and go out of favour with the collector's market. If you want one and enjoy the car then by all means buy one. If your goal is to invest, I suggest you move on. From the few 2008 MY STR cars I've seen it would appear to be the least dersireable. At least at this point in time. No one knows anything for certain.

I hate to create any confusion on this, but I had an email exchange with Jaguar this week on the same subject. I asked them how many SRT's were made for the US Market in '06. This is the reply I received:

Thank you for contacting the Jaguar Customer Relationship Center.

We appreciate your inquiry. For the 2006 model year there were 3,648 S Type R' vehicles manufactured for the North American market.

If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-4-JAGUAR, option 9, or by e-mail.

Regards,

Klaudia Czeszkiewicz
Jaguar Customer Service

This number is VERY different from what Greg received...

When I asked how many were produced in White, she replied that she didn't have that information.

Oh great

From media .ford.com I got the following figures for Jaguar USA (possibly NAS). It's not clear to me if these are MY or CY (model/calendar year):

Code:
YEAR XJ XK S-Type X-Type TOTAL JAGUAR (USA)
        2007 4,474 4,487 3,524 3,198 15,683
        2006 5,027 4,567 5,875 5,214 20,683
        2005 8,304 2,282 8,897 10,941 30,424
        2004 10,552 2,806 10,975 21,542 45,875
        2003 10,102 2,905 14,876 26,772 54,655
        2002 8,286 3,935 15,965 33,018 61,204
        2001 10,082 5,137 19,548 9,765 44,532
        2000 12,492 6,729 24,507 - 43,728
        1999 13,344 6,154 15,541 - 35,039

That certainly is!

I have some friends here in the NJ area who are big Jag fans for 35+ years and they have some contacts with Jag NA. When they return from their road trip I'll ask and see if there's someone they can identify as being a reliable source. It's all over map so far.

So to my knowledge there is a company called Alpha Jag Tuning that does tuning on our cars. Now as far as dyno tuning goes, there are places out there that'll do it. The chap I talked to on Facebook Alex Trusov, who has tuned Scott Holford's XJR with the same motor as our cars, does remote tuning and essentially will send you the equipment necessary to be able to tune the vehicle and send files to him so fine tuning can be done. There's a local shop by me that a friend uses for a different car but is up to the task of dyno tuning the car as being remote tuned makes it much easier. It is called DD Performance Research based out of 4073 FM 3538, Sealy, TX 77474.

Talked to the chap who runs the shop there and they said they'd be more than up to the task of having the car tuned on the dyno so it's who I'll more than likely be going to, to have my car dyno tuned. Another thing which I've found highly interesting is that the Alpha Jag Tuning Chaps also offer a prototype intake for quite a few different cars including ours I believe, as well as improved thermostat's with stock or reduced temps, custom ecu tunes including fan duration and turn on temp modifications, dash programming for aux imputs, and music bluetooth aux modules. These folks more than likely are who I am going to use for everything when it comes to modifying my Jag. I've reached out to eurocharged here in Houston Tx, but they don't really seem up to the task of dyno tuning or being able to help me aftermarket wise on our Jags so I've pretty well abandoned them.

Times have changed in the 13 years that the last post before yours.

Don't look for a response from Riski. He died tragically in his STR many years ago.

Certainly so times have changed. Sorry to hear about the passing of Riski. Was not aware of this. New to the S Type world.
