Hmmmm ... confidence dropping quickly.

They have two more weeks then I have to cancel the transaction with the credit card company if I don't want to be out the $58.

I do hope it's just a coinkydink.

It might just take all of the two weeks. I think it took them about 3-4 weeks to get one to me, but it arrived. In a priorty mail 3-day box!

What I really don't like and a big reason why I'm trying to update the in car system for the Jag, but NOT @ $200) is the issue of having it on the windshield and the cords both for the power and the traffic antenna,
Mine's also a Nuvi, only ever makes mistakes in the middle of a city with tall buildings all around, and only at certain spots.
Wouldn't dream of having it mounted on the windscreen, here's a pic:

We use ours in multiple cars and usually if my wife is along she's the one using it. It's the having to disconnect it and hit it when we lock the car that gets old, same for the radar detector.

I tested the two back to back return to my home and the Nuvi wanted me to enter the Lincoln tunnel on into NYC instead of properly exit before hand.

That was weird.

The Jag's system isn't perfect either though ...

I feel sorry for those who grew up with this and don't have a well developed sense of direction or maps.

These systems can map out some pretty strange routes at times!

I turned the key on, did not start the car and then inserted the DVD. It updated in less than 6 minutes and seems to be operating but I have not actually used it as yet.

Default Uh OH

Today for the first time today I tried this new Nav DVD out.

She no work right.

It knows where I am as it labels the roads correctly.

But it will not let me enter a road name or town name properly. It terminates the entry and gives me a very abbreviated list to chose from and of the 10 or so street names I tried none could be entered.

Anyone else have this issue the DVD from this company?

Do you have the correct area selected?

If not you will see the maps but can't enter a destination.

What states do you have it set to?

It's not the company. Had the same issue with mine from them. Check to make sure you are in the right area of the country!

OK but what does that mean exactly? Is there a configuration spot where that's entered? It's a GPS shouldn't it know that?

OK, found it. Thanks from the dummies here.

I didn't have this as an option on our old version. Man they do divide everything up into a lot of pieces of pie. I wonder why?

Not WO the factory software tool to do so at any rate. So a dealer visit would be required.

I wos going to update to au/nz 2011/12 disk
just to have the unit running as the car came with no disk at all ,
It has been loaded With 2005 US update that the dealer stuck in it to remove
The original 2003 Japanese firmwere ,
Until I read about the crappy jaguar display icon that 2011 brings with it ,
I never use the jag nav any way and would rather have the green and chrome
Display ! I'll stick with usin the Imaps nav on my iphone !
Witch now speaks throu the sterio thanks to veffremov's cool gadget !

One more question on the nav how do I lock in a chosen display change
In the hidden menu ? I can for instance change the display two Daimler or switch on or off any of the audio moduls and it works untill the key is removed and when powered back up it's back to how it was before the change ! Does every ones do that or do I need a nav disk for it to save to or something ?
