Nothing ruled out, BUT, the half shafts on these are a CV jointed affair, and give very little trouble providing the boots stay intact.

Also bear in mind that the halfshafts are rotating at about 1/3 of the engine speed, and that is a very ROUGH "about" trust me.

Most vibrations on that model are transmission related. The trans does wierd stuff IF the engine is having a hissy moment, so "horse before the cart" thinking is needed here.

Both of ours had odd behaviour from what I diagnosed as the trans on the way to AWOL, and a few fluid changes made little difference, BUT, new sparkers and coils sorted them both 100%.

There has been lots of discussion on here about the signals the trans gets from the engine, etc, and it always gets back to the engine NOT running 100% causes the trans to not do what it should correctly. Thats MY unerstanding on it anyway,

I believe the next model up (X202), as well as a different trans etc has a very different way of informing the trans what the engine is actually doing.

The torque converter on the 5R55N is always a weak point that I have read, and strange vibrations are the subject usually.

I thought it may of been tje trans too but it's coming from the rear end passenger side it seems.

Mmmm, that is a long way from the trans in any thought process.

My thoughts, and only that, as I have no issues with either of ours.

Tyre got a lump???.

Rear wheel bearing, I do read that they are an issue occassionally.

Lots of suspension arms/bushings in that area.

Hopefully someone else will come along with other suggestions?. A bit of play/take up rotation in the driveline is usually "normal" on any car, so not on my radar at the moment.

The slop when I turn the hub before the driveshaft moves is more than I like I hope it's not a half shaft as they seem to be a pain to swap. I still have to compare the drivers side to see if that's normal.

Half shafts rarely go (especially on the 3.0 cars) check the drive shaft, wheel bearing as previously mentioned.

When checking the half shaft for play push pull it from the diff. Ifs there "play" you may have an issue. Also check the half shaft boots (they should be sealed and dry and leaking no grease)

How would I diagnose a rear wheel bearing?

I would like to add that when there is a vibration it's very noticeable like shakes back of car.. so it's a considerable size item causing vibration...

remove wheels, Jack up the rear of the car and engage in drive (remember - only one axle will spin)

Also, with car off - trans in neutral, spin each rotor (listen for grinding sound)

Again, rarely do the half shafts go.

Check your axle shafts going from trans to rear diff.

a worn wheel bearing can cause vibration at speed...

Since wheel bearings are much easier to change than half shafts I think I'll start there and hope that's it.
