Default Hard Part to Find

I have tried searching, but I couldn't find the answer so I'll ask y'all:

I think someone tried to steal gas from me over the weekend on my 2000 Jaguar S-type 3.0. When they did so (they were unsuccessful for some reason, as my tank was still full in the morning) they broke the little plastic piece that holds the gas cap closed. Where can I find this part? and would it be relatively simple (a screwdriver) to replace?

Such an awkward problem to have, but the gas cap won't close without this piece.

Thank you so much!

Any car in the last 20+ years is almost impossible to siphon gas out of. I know I have tried!! You car is older and plenty of 2000-200 S Types in the junk yard. Otherwise the dealer but much higher price.

It crossed my mind that I might have to replace the entire gas cap (which would require painting). I would REALLY like to avoid this - and just replace the plastic piece inside.

Is this possible? Anyone know the part #?

Not sure if 2000 is the same as 2003. I know the 2005 is different. This one looks like what the 03's have.

Thank you so much aholbro. It says it fits up to: "Jaguar S-TYPE UP TO VIN NUMBER N13088" so I'm going to see if that includes my '00 Jag.

Thank you so much for the help!

Give LKQ a call, just type it in google and find the nearest LKQ distributor near you. No part is hard to find there if you want to save money. Driving a Jag out here in Mississippi is tuff the nearest jag dealer is in Jackson. I live out in the boonies in Meridian.

It does. M2455xx was the switch to the 2002.5 "facelifted" models. Yours is before that.

Take care,

George
