Default Hard Start after fueling

My 03 has started to have issues after I fuel the car. It doesn't want to start up initially after fillup. Is this a fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel screen issue or something else?

Sometimes when I remove the fuel cap, the rubber O-ring on the cap slides down the cap due to the amount of suction in the system. This had not happened before that I can recall until this issue.

I plan on replacing all the filters soon anyway. If the pump is the issue, I will replace the pump at this time also. I would buy a new E2226 pump (Motorcraft) for the unit.

Pump appears to be working.

Something is supposed to "breathe" and apparently isn't.

If you watch this video he will show how to check the fuel pump using the fuel trims.

https://youtu.be/cARQ0jZZ4Qc
but it sounds more like that you have a problem with the fuel tank pressure control valve.
If you downloaded a copy of the JTIS from the stickies or the workshop manual from jagrepair.com it will tell you how to check it.

Thank you. I have a copy of the JTIS. I will look at the video and JTIS. From the diagram listed above, I thought the fuel pump was located in the left wheelwell and not up under the vehicle near the tank. Is the diagram correct? Was the wheelwell location for a different MY?

For an 03 3.0L V-6, your fuel filter should be behind the splash shield at the back of the left front wheelwell. Your pump should be inside the tank.

And the filter(s) aka sock(s) in the tank (I think).

JagV8 and aholbro1 correct. The illustration shows the filter by the pump which is incorrect.

Is the pressure relief valve in the same location as on an 03 By 3.0?

Thanks for the EPC info. I have the manual and JTIS. I was only asking if it was the correct location so that I didn't have to check and see, but I will. Once again, thanks for the EPC info.
