Default headgasket gone

hey all im so stressed out,

my headgasket is broken not completley but enough that im loosing coollant and there is exhaust vapour in the water or oil not sure which but the smith test was carried out.

the jag man said he wont replace the gasket because i have nikasil liners in my car,

however i came acrsoss this on the internet

The first steel-lined AJ-V8 came off the production line In the year 2000 on August 18th at 10.43am hence the engine number will read:
00 08 18 1043 or more precisely: 0008181043

now my engine number is GB0106260726

So that is year 2001 on june the 26th at 7.26 am

please help as its £5000 for a new engine.

A 2002 UK model year should not be nikasil.

In any case, you are better off at a shop that wants to do the work rather than arguing the point with a reluctant shop.

ive given them my engine number and they are going to call H.A Fox which is the jaguar dealer the car came from in 2002, so they should be able to confirm for sure right?

Confused. Does what matter. ?

If you are talking about whether the dealer can tell me if I have steel or nikasil liners. Then yes it matters because if it has steel liners then head gasket can be replaced with no issues.

If it has nikasil then I need a new engine. As the liners lift and head gasket will just go again and again and again.

You should have steel liners at this late date. Once they got the Sulfur out of the fuel around 2001 or so things improved but it was too late for Jaguar. The word was out.

I purchased it from a dealer who gave me a 6 month 3 star warranty.

Not a jaguat dealer. Just a used car dealer. Only thing is maximum per claim is £500 but this shouldn't happen within 2 months of me having the car.

If it's a HG then I'd hope for a full fix / money back or be talking to Trading Standards. Be a bit careful as implied warranty on a quite old car is an iffy area I think. Hope for a decent vendor.
