Headlight issues

hi all, the headlights on my 2004 S-Type V8 keep intermittently cutting out and then coming back on, any thoughts?

Sounds like the switch or a plug is loose along the circuit.

Are you using the "auto lamp" feature, or manually switching them on? Is there any play in the switch knob? On 2 of my previous vehicles, it was that assembly that failed in the same manner. On one occasion, spraying the contacts helped forestall the inevitable....just enough to have a replacement on hand.

Worth running without Auto lamp setting to see if it still occurs. At least that can rule out the sensor (but leaves lamp wiring and the stalk, not to mention fuses, modules etc).
