Why oh why would they give heated mirrors and heated wiper park standard but not heated seats?

I've been searching for months for a complete set, driver and passenger front seats with elements already installed. So far, I was only able to get my hands on a set of seat bottoms with heat (not in as great of shape), but never any backs.

I have all the parts needed to make this work, including the heating elements, control boxes and switches with the matching bezel.

But I'll be honest, I am NOT an upholstery guy. I went to a pick a part last weekend and tried to remove the leather cover from a seat....the fabric line that holds the hog rings in place completely ripped and yup, I was done. I've settled on having an upholstery shop help me. My ask to them is to remove the seats, remove the leather, install the heating elements, then replace the leather. Once that's done, I'll have them install the control boxes before they reinstall the seat.

My question for you fine folks....is there any way to test the heating element or control boxes before I have them installed? I was thinking I could throw 12 volts to the heating elements and see if anything happens. For the control boxes, I'm curious if there is an ohm reading or something I could check.

I've been poking at this for a while, big thing I like to have in any of my cars. (If someone has a set of black seats with OEM heat already installed that you need to get rid of, by all means let me know)

DORMAN sells generic seat heater element pads. Just install the pads with the Jaguar controls?
The elements are linked in SERIES as far as I remember.

This is a good point. In addition, I wouldn’t be surprised to find the heater pads are common to many Fords. If your budget doesn’t stretch to new universal ones, you might be able to cannibalise a cheap set of Ford seats.

All good points. My biggest pet peeve us using the factory buttons, which I guess I could do.

I was able to pull the elements out of other seats, I just don’t trust myself to try and remove the leather and install them (without damaging anything)

Let me ask a different question…how difficult is it to remove the seats and remove the bottom part of the seat from the track and reinstall? If I did that, I would at least get the bottom seat warmer (assuming the cushions I bought work)

Not tried it on my Jag, but have on plenty of other cars. Usually, it’s not too difficult but you might need a set of hog-ring pliers and some new hog rings.

The elements are wired in SERIES.(you need BOTH to complete the circuit)

If you wire just one in the circuit, it might become too hot as the resistance would 'off'.

GOOD LOOKS.

Thank you man, seriously. I would of been so heated (no pun intended) if I did only one and blew something up.
