Default Help needed - Radio

Today, I jammed in a CD in the player while the car was off. I thought it was on of course. Now, the unit shows that a CD has been inserted, but nothing happens when I press the CD button to play it.

I think my CD player is toast? Anyone else have this to deal with? Besides replacing the radio, what should I do with this unit?

I expect there's a way to get the CD out.... but sorry I don't know it. Hope somone chimes in!

If no-one does, I'd remove the whole unit and strip it down.

Most audio units built during the past decade have a global reset button. Find it, press it, and that should then cause your CD to be ejected simply by pressing the eject button. The problem lies in finding and then accessing that reset button. I know where it is on my Dodge Ram because I installed an aftermarket system myself, and I have all documentation for it. With these factory-installed units, we don't get the documentation we need for situations such as yours....

With some units, disconnecting a battery terminal for a couple of minutes will automatically cause a hard reset. You may want to try that first....

Floridajag,

I'm assuming you have already tried the eject button. If so, are you getting any sort of message? When I first got my Jag I would get a CD-Error message when trying to play a CD but when I hit the A-Mem button when inserting the CD, it would play. If that doesn't work you may have to go the route Jon recommended.

I'd remove the head unit and disassemble as jagv8 mentioned.

Don't forget if you disconnect the battery, you'll need the radio code number to make it work again!

I think disconnecting the battery will be the easiest thing to try. If that doesn't work, I will try other measures.

Thank you all for your help. I'll let you know when I am able to remove the CD.
