Default Help with plugs and coils 2000 V6

Hi, was right in the middle of working on our Jag and had some issues with parents, Mother had a stroke, and threw our world into turmoil. After many months of caring for her 24/7 she has moved in with us and now have time to try and fix our Jag. Want to change plugs and coils (got fault reading) which was recommended to try this fix of coils and plugs. Have the coils and plugs and know its difficult job, and would love to take to dealer, but money is now tight with mom issues. Any suggestions, help or guidance would be great. Have taken pics of engine as is now, so can put it back together again. do know to disconnect battery cable but battery is already dead from sitting in garage. Will do so anyway and start taking some things apart to get to the changes needed. Also remember someone saying be careful with Gas lines because they could squirt gas if done wrong way. Anyway, you can see very green at this but only option right now. Thaks

You won't need to disconnect gas lines AFAIK. Look for posts by BugDoc as he did this a while back and posted pics as well as details. Sorry about your troubles.

Default pics? not sure if found all

I did a search with Bugdoc, actually communicated with him way back, and found the pics he posted of the drivers side, but was also hoping for some pics if any on the passengers side where the manifold has to come off. Are then any on the site somewhere. Thank you .

Default oil around coils?

Just pulled the first plug and coil and they are original. My question is what is the stuff around the coil, looks like oil and the plug looks fairly worn and also had oil around the threads which I guess is that material mentioned in the other posts to put on the threads, correct? Default oil in plug area, need some help soon

Hi, changing the plugs and I am on the drivers side of car. The slot of the plug closest to the inside of car had a little more oil in it then the front two plug slots and my concern was after I pulled the plug out it had oil on the threads. The place to refill the oil looks like where I pour it some would go in that direction of all the plugs but if some oil did get into the plug hole after I took it out, could this be an issue for firing? I can take some pics of plug with oil if need to be seen. Thanks for any help.

You are probably OK with a bit of oil getting in. I'm pretty sure that your generation car has what is called the IMT valve. It is an intake tuning valve and is attached to the back of the intake manifold. Since you have that off, replace the o-ring seals on the valves. They are known to leak and are probably what is causing oil to sit in the plug recesses. For a really good write up on changing them look for a thread started by JoycesJag referring to IMT replacement.
