possibly like a lot of people , the fear of the plastic cooling system ?

it's a targa rally . there are many classes . also you are racing your own clock not the fastest guy.

Exhaust sounded like it was from a Japanese drift car. Nice to see a S-Type compete like this.

Maybe not a full thrashing but credit given for at least being on the track and giving 'er the boot !

Here in the 'States most people drive a Jag as though it was made out of glass, as you've probably observed yourself!

Cheers

Great photography, beautiful country. It wasn't even a STR. Keep that traction control on baby.

No I was asking a real question. Seemed like they were on a spirited drive more than racing.

If a cop spots you driving like that you'll be in a lot of trouble. What that person was doing was also pretty dangerous. I couldn't spot any serious safety equipment in the car? If you go off there's a good chance you're dead. He also had his wife with him. He wasn't the fastest out there as in one shot he was going to get passed but in another there was someone ahead of him. The video was also slowed down at one point for effect ...
Probably being sensible.

Ever done any real, sanctioned open road racing?

My first time on a track was June of 1986. Last time out was at Mid-Ohio in an Acura TSX
And... there is a roll bar in that S-Type

Well a roll bar is better than nothing but in that environment a serious off would still be pretty horrible. It's not like a nicely controlled track environment and with his wife? along I think he's probably being quite wise. My wife loved open road racing in Nevada in what was essentially a street car like that one but absolutely hated a 30 minute session around Watkins Glen in my race car which does have a full roll cage, racing seats with 5 point harnesses and a fire system. She found it too claustrophobic and I was pushing a lot harder there than on an open road.
