I think the premium package was offered for the last two years of the "R"
2007-08
My opinion, don't like it...not sure why

Leedsman.

He is in ownership of the AWD Xtype at the moment and wants to trade for the STR that he will store for the winter.
Also, your comment about rolled back odometers does not seem to be a problem over here like it was in the past.If any guys have heard about it please chime in.
With the cars being inspected yearly at certified shops that enter the data into government computers,we can get this info and it would show up any weird discrepencies with the mileage.Maybe a roll back of 10-15000 miles might go undetected if the car averages high mileage yearly.
But the average 10-20000 anual miles would be hard to hide.

Whats up with the chrome surrounds, i know on the x type, the sport has them the same color as the body, is it the same for the stypes??

Yea alberta i where i'm from, all we see around here are big, jacked up maerican trucks, with chips, rims and exhuast, those are super cheap up here. but whats rare is the jags, mercs, and italian cars, they just don't do good in -50 celcius, unless its the x type, which left the big trucks stuck int he snow!!!
What even goes on in Canada? Dont hear a peep out of you guys up there ehhhhhhh. I'll give you the hockey and snow, not very desirable. haha

STR's have no chrome. Everything is body color matched, except for the mesh grill which isnt chrome, its more like a gunmetal-ish.

oopps probably should have read this before posting..... Ah hem, yes the R's have a chrome strip on the trunk from 06-08.

JOsworth I have never heard or seen this "premium" package on the R. I was under the impression they all had the dark stained wood, all body color matching with a leather wrapped steering wheel.

I think the chome trim would look TERRIBLE on the R.

Actually the 2007 and 2008 STR had a chrome option. Chrome grille and bumper spears. Also look for "Portfolio" cars. These have two tone interiors. In the end the S Type options seemed to open up and become more flexible.

Yes I know I quoted myself..... Early this morning I posted two AutoTrader adds for the "chromed" R's.... And yes, it was 07 and 08. I didn't think the "Portfolio" cars came as R's.....Now I'll have to search... For those that don't know, they had some extra chrome and a really neat looking satin wood treatment for the interior. That was 08 only....

Well, couldn't find an R with the Portfolio package but here is a 3.0 with the Satin Edition package. Another note..Notice the R shifter and R wheels...but not staggered...And the R style front bumper... Actually, for it's final year the basic S was pretty neat... Even without the satin interior package, the base S for 08 got the piped leather seats and walnut burl trim..

Oops, looks like the final cars were called Satin Editions, not the Portfolio...

Tbird, what was the Portfolio package and what years......Remember, I love nerdy stuff like this....

Ok so I completely failed at me original response, and no, I didnt even click on the links. Couple observations:

1) Quoting yourself is awesome
2) now that i see it on the R, I can honestly say I despise the chrome accents/trim, that belongs on a vander or luxury version, not their "sport" version. Are these just options or standard? yuck
3) I also dont like the wood they chose, again, not sporty. Did they still offer the dark stained wood in 07-08? If not they should have done some kind of aluminum trim.
4) Two toned interiors are fabulous. Especially when the leather seats are two toned.

Finally, I WISH that my R had a wood trimmed steering wheel stained the same color I have now, that dark shade. Can anyone make that happen for me!!!?????

All in good fun my friend, I have a friend that is in the Special Forces up there. Dont know what ya'll call it. You guys definately take offense too easily when Americans say anything about Canada. For me, it just seems like you are behind an iron curtain like China was. I literally dont hear ANY news coming from Canada.

I will say this, Montreal is a great time.

Being in Texas I thought the Vancouver Olympics were awesome(lots of partying)
Most of the news from Canada is generally good news, I guess good news don't travel...lol.
My friends in Toronto are very happy they only had about 6 inches of snow this year(good news again)Unlike our Northeast that was buried most of the winter hell even Dallas had a record cold winter and record snow.go figure

I think aluminum trim was an option. The R could have the wood wheel as an option IIRC so maybe ebay for one?

1) Awwww Shucks.......
2) Optional, and more common on the 07 / 08's than I thought..Agree on the no chrome is better looking.
3) Not sure on that one. Again, I'll be the nerd and look and see..BTW, starting in 05 an Aluminum Trim interior was available...Super rare in North America..Actually sort of common over in the UK..Maybe some of our buds over there will post some pictures...
4) Again, much more common over in the UK...BTW, did you know that the base S in the UK had CLOTH SEATS!!!!!

Finally, read in another thread that the wood on the steering wheel is pretty solid and that they can be sanded and refinished...I say search for one on E-Bay..Sand it down and give it a shot...

That is a possibility.
I have found Jag Corp here in the US very helpful.
Give them a call and ask, I think they will try their best to give you the answer. (They sent me an 06 factory S Type brochure long after they were gone from the dealerships)
Also you could buy a wheel from the regular non "R' Stype and have it sanded and restained in the correct color.

Woo hoo.... Found one with the Aluminum Interior...Owner says it is a Portfolio car... Not sure what that package is but at least you can see what the Aluminum interior looks like.

Oh, I did find an 07 R with the grey stained wood trim, but every 08 I saw had the chrome package on it.

They look like this..
