Default Jaguar S type 1999 Can System

Hello
I own a Jaguar S-type v8 4.0 from 1999 and i have a little issue. im trying to find out if the -99 Version has a Can Bus system but can't find any information anywhere. so i am asking here because i have no idea where to find this information. i know that the -04 S-type has it but i don't know about the -99 version. Any information on this would be really helpful or if there already is a thread about this if someone could link it here.

thanks in Beforehand.

FLixen, all cards made after 1996 have a CAN bus system in them. IT was part of the standard for going to the OBDII system. So, your car has a CAN bus in it.

Ford did NOT want to pay for a CAN bus in the X200 so they incorporated the ECM and TCM in one unit called the PTEC. (PowerTrain Electronic Control)

The X202 needed the CAN bus because the ZF 6HP26 required it. (The Ford 5R55N did NOT)

jagrepair.com has the Electrical Guide and that shows all the protocols.

(Yours will be ISO 9141, SCP, possibly some other but not CAN.)

BTW find your actual engine number (marked on it, do NOT go by VIN) and check it is after the revised chain tensioners etc were fitted otherwise your 4.0 has a time bomb.
