Exclamation Jaguar S-Type tune-up..Quick Question

I have a 2002' Jaguar S-type 4.0. What parts do I need to do a full tune-up?

I was told:
Coils
Gasket
Spark plugs
O2 Sensors

I dont know if thats true, is that all I need?

Also, what the best brand do you guys recommend to buy?? reply asap. thanks

That will cost plenty. Ask yourself why would you swap most of them? What mileage, what servicing/maintenance are you 100% sure has been done, are there any problems etc.

I'd start with workshop manual ($10 ebay) and elm327 OBD lead ($20 ebay) so you can read the sensors and see how they are.

And read old posts on here - FREE but please donate

After that, if you want any parts stay away from aftermarket unless you are SURE they're OK - contact the forum sponsors as at least they know what to sell (and give discounts/free shipping).

Ok great. Even though the check engine light Is not on, will the "elm327 OBD Lead" still be able to read the sensors to see how they are? thanks for the reply!

It'll read the vital engine-related (strictly: emission-related) ones.

Only the sparkplugs have a specified mileage life estimate. I wouldn't change gaskets, O2 sensor or coils unless they were defective. What about your air filter, fuel filter, cabin filter, ATF fluid change? IMO if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
best wishes VMV

Well IMHO its always good to change coils if you can afford it while you are doing plugs.

Depends entirely on the type of plug you are running. The best iridium plugs (Denso and NGK) can easily do 120,000 to 150,000 miles with no issues in the right application....

Adding to above: you may want to get some throttle body cleaner and clean up your MAF sensor and throttle body to include the butterfly valve.

My check engine light is not on in my car. Can the "elm327 OBD Lead" still read the sensor, or will I need to have the check-engine light on in order for it to read anything? My car also stutters alittle during idle.

Who are the forum sponsors?

Dumb question probably, but hey, I'm new!
