key coding
super excited to have just succesfully coded new keys for my friends 2003 S type 4.2! 6 yrs ago the car was stolen and then recovered. the keys were lost at that time and the car sat. he gathered up various bits and chips to make the required 2 keys and i was able to program them using SDD 131 which i have had about 2 months on my laptop. i run windows XP on a virtual machine. i cant believe we did it!
Congrats.
So did you manage to recreate all functions? Or only the transponder part of the story? What about the remote functions?
If you managed to do the remote functions well, it should also work to make a 3rd and 4th key for S-Type 2004/2005?
Cause that is what I need. I plan to drive to a specialist - he did that last time for AUD$50.
What are the costs for your equipment? And the time required?

the Mongoose cable cost me about $140 and the software was free. i have no idea if the cable is the real deal or not but it says Mongoose on it and when i connect the device it requires me to pick Drew technologies which is the same as Jaguar specific as far as i can tell. Havent tried the other functions yet.

I would recommend that you only do what you need to using the Jaguar software.
If it is working fine then leave it as it is!!
Also when programming the S-type if the battery voltage drops the programming will be interrupted and if this happens it can destroy the module you are programming!
Jaguar recommend that a back-up power supply is always attached to the battery when using IDS/SDD.
This needs to be enough to run all the electrics on the car with the ignition on and without the engine running. Jaguar recommend a 35-amp unit is used. I use a 30-amp fully stabilised variable voltage power supply.
A 3-amp or 5-amp battery charger is nowhere near powerful enough.

yes, we had another car running (x300) and batteries connected by cables so it wasnt an issue. thanks

One suggestion?
We have seen that cars that sit for extended times seem to have fuel pump problems from the lack of use. So don't be surprised if you start driving the car and run into this. At least changing a fuel pump on the S-Type is not too bad of a job.
Great job and I am so glad you mentioned that you coded 2 keys! The amount of problems we have seen with people only having one key is immense!

Nice job. Good feeling i bet. Coding my keys and fobs are the reason i got the sdd system. Dealer wanted over 700 bucks for 2 new keys snd programming. I got my whole sdd setup with laptop for about 250
