Default Left front sign lamp failed temporarily

Hello there,

I just got this S-type V8 4.2 (NOT R). And the Left front sign lamp is sometimes on and sometimes failed.

Certainly when it failed, the warning sign will tell you, then suddenly after some left turn signaling, it is fixed again.

Could this be due to the wiring failure ? or may be just the bulb is not tight enough ? Any idea ? Thank you in advance.

I'd take a look at the bulb holder, mine burnt up the terminals.

remove bulb, take needle nose pliers and pinch the terminals together, then reinsert bulb making sure it is tight. problem should be fixed. I already had to do this on mine.

Thank you Norri.

If it burnt up the terminal, does it cost a lot to replace ?

My 2005 S Type had the same bulb/socket problem. I looked carefully and saw a small slot had been burned in the metal spring clips in the socket that holds the bulb. Changing the bulb did not fix it. I finally folded aluminum foil over until I had a small square of flexible metal. I folded this over the bulb base. Then plugged the bulb into the socket making sure the small piece of foil stayed in place. That was over 5K miles ago and it works fine. I just can’t find used parts for these cars!! There just are not enough of them around!!

I'm having the exact same issue. Can you please tell what you did to fix it.

Is it safe to drive the vehicle till weekend without causing more damage?

Thanks,
Rizwan

I took the bulb out cleaned everything up, tweaked the wire terminals a bit and Bob's your uncle, the real solution will be a new bulb holder, I didn't price them but read somwhere that they are pretty pricey.

Thank You so Much Norri, I'll give it a try on the Weekend and hope it works for me... If it does not then I'll look how much the new holder is going to Cost (don't know if that kind of thing will be covered by the Extended warranty).

Anyways. Thanks for the heads up. I'll repost after doing what you have suggested.

Best Regards,
Rizwan

If you can get the socket please post back to the list. I never could get one for my 2005 passenger side front turn signal.

I don't know how it could be different for Left and Right.

But this is what I got from Jaguar Catalog posted by some on forums:

LEFT Side Turn Signal Bulb Holder: Part# XR848363

http://www.oempartcatalog.com/partlo...&siteid=214578

RIGHT Side Turn Signal Bulb Holder: Part# XR812401

http://www.oempartcatalog.com/partlo...&siteid=214578

I haven't open the holder yet so I don't know If I can fix the exiting one or need a new holder.

Please let me know if it helps.

Thanks & Best Regards,
Rizwan

Thanks for the links but they don't go to any parts? Just the search page?

Sorry for that. I didn't verify that those links actually go directly to the part page.

Please do what joycesjag said you'll get it.

Thanks joycesjag.

Best Regards,
Rizwan

See the attached Pic... take from Catalog.

I gave those Part numbers from this catalog and that Holder is highlighted in number 16 (in the picture).

You can call those guys and ask them if thats the actual holder of the Turn Signals.

I hope that helps.

P.S: this is what that website says:

Front lamps - Headlamp components - Levelling motor - Holder
Signal lamp bulb Left - Halogen 2003-07 2003 - 2007

Thanks & Best Regards,
Rizwan

I'm interested if you can find some info.

I think mine will need changing before too long.
