Limp mode resolution short lived ...
Hi All, some may remember I wanted to report a positive repair I received from Jaguar dealer. Well that was short lived as my limp mode gremlins have appeared again to my disappointment. 2 mechanics and a jag dealer later and I have a limp mode problem. Its pointing to an ABS/PCM comms problem. Jag said the repaired a wiring problem in the harness. However this has come back to haunt me. Oh well, maybe it was a bad idea to buy a jag. Looks like a have a lemon on my hands.
Hmmm are you the original owner of the vehicle? If you are not, I am just trying to get a basis as why you would state that you have a lemon. Maybe a previous owner had an accident, or modified something or caused the wiring problem.
Yes I have the incorrect wheels. Trying desperately to source correct ones. Any help greatly appreciated. I am based in SW London...
Spoke to chap last night who has many years experience with Jags and he said Limp mode very like to be a Throttle problem. I explained I have recently had a NEW JAG TPS installed and he thinks Pedal is sending wrong signals to the unit. Which might explain why I get the Idle jumping from a calm 500rpm to near 1000rpm. Then very likely LIMP MODE!! And errors.

He's out of his depth. You get specific codes for the throttle and others for the pedal. Don't listen to a well-meaning but ignorant man.
You now sound to have a power problem such as a flattish or old battery.

The chap is an idiot.
The S Type will NOT tolerate different diameter tires or a change in rear end ratios without going into limp home mode. It is suppose to do that.
Until you get the non-stock tires and rims fixed I would not do anything.
Any chance you bought the car this way? Maybe the other owner never could figure out that tire/rim problem?

Still trying like crazy to source 245/40/18 wheels. (Same as front). Looks like the bright spark before me fancied a set of XK Alloys without knowing whether the car would tolerate them or not... If it turns out to be the wheels which are the start and end of my LIMP MODE problems, I swear I will eat my hat! :-) As I have had a lot of grief up to this point with 2 mechanics and a Jag dealer!
