Default Locks and trunk autolocks

2003 S-Type I have an issue where the door locks will lock and then immediately unlock. This happens no matter if the locks are activated by moving the car, pressing the lock switch on the door inside the car, or using the FOB. This also is deactivating the trunk lock. I have checked each door and the dash indicates when the door is open and closed correctly. This is also true of the trunk but the hood switch does not appear to have any effect. It never indicates OPEN.

Within the last 5 years, when the car's interior gets hot during the summer, the climate control goes haywire and will also the temp measurement goes from Fahrenheit to Celsius and the fan only works on one speed and will not change if you press AUTO or the fan speed switch.

Would like to fix this outside of the Jaguar dealer who is over 100 miles away. Any thoughts as to what may be the problem without just starting to replace components?

Running a code scan with a reader that can detect Jaguar chassis codes, e.g. iCarsoft i930, or LR V2.0, should be revealing. One of the "usual" suspects in the auto-unlock situation is a bad door micro-switch that tells the ECU that it is unlocked, which then triggers a global "unlock"...

Thank you for the reply. Does that usually keep the trunk from working with the FOB as well? Even with the doors in unlocked mode, the FOB will not release the trunk. I have to use the actual key. The button on the dash will not even work.

I have validated that all the doors are indicating "shut" as I opened them, one at a time, and saw the Door Open light come on. But it sounds like you are telling me that when a LOCK is issued, it doesn't lock and therefore the computer says "unlock all the doors".

Again, thank you for the reply. It is greatly appreciated.

I had a similar climate control issue that was fixed by getting a newer nav disc. There is a TSB.

Aaron - Thank you for your note and I think you have pointed me to a resolution that will solve one of my problems. I really appreciate your help and look forward to getting out to the car and seeing if this is one of those that needs the upgrade. I greatly appreciate your sharing your knowledge.

Have a great day and may the Lord bless and protect.

In the two front door latch assemblies as well as the 'door ajar' switch (that also works the interior light) I think there is also a lock/unlock status switch. This is open when unlocked.
I think that if one of these status switches is faulty and not showing a lock status the system will unlock all the doors again.
There is also a third switch for the double lock status as well!
