Yes, he behaved like an idiot. No, he did not deserve to die, any more than he would have deserved to die if the overtaking had been successful.

The other driver got 2 years' probation and 130 hours of community service, and will be talking in schools about his experience. I agree with the judge, that will benefit the world more than 20 years of incarceration.

Every one of us who has ever exceeded the speed limit, run on all-season tires in winter or gone hurriedly through an amber light has made an ill-considered decision and put themselves and others at some risk. We never think it will result in someone's death, any more than police who chase traffic offenders through city streets and sometimes end up killing innocent civilians.

What does Paul Walker have to do at all with any of this? He wasn't even driving when he died and I have yet to see a single account of the vehicle he was a passenger in being involved in a street race.

Take a break fellas.

We can go round and round in circles forever, it won't change what's happened.

Keep it on topic and factual, or it'll end up locked like the other threads.

The only sad parts about it are the death of the innocent driver and the effect that is had on this idiot's family who are left to mourn their loss in the knowledge that he was a fool who caused the death of a stranger through his stupidity.
