Default My New S Type R

Hey guys,

I just upgraded from a 2001 S Type 3.0 to this silver (my fav color) 2006 STR two weeks ago and let me say this car is a beast and such a joy to drive. The interior/exterior is in flawless condition. This baby will only be handwashed. In the next few months I definitely want to do some mods similar to bfsgross's STR.

Congrats! Also glad to see you posted pics! These are great cars to own with known issues that are fairly easy to fix

Silver has to be one of my favorite colors on the STR, such an amazing shade of the color... congrats man, what a huge leap over your 01 3.0 S huh?

Thanks for posting up those pics!

Yeah, its really night and day compared to my 01 3.0. The ride, handling, braking etc...Yours looks sweet to, do you have the H&R lowering springs installed? It looks a bit lower than mine.

Acemaster - if you are looking to lower your STR give Chris over at Mina Gallery a call and tell him Chris & Seth from the Jaguar Forum sent you.

He had an amazing deal going on the Mina Gallery Lowering Springs was less than $300 shipped!

Mina also has some great mods - Racing Pedals, Lower Mesh Grille, Clear Side Markers, Performance Intake etc etc...

Good luck there are a ton of mods out there for STR!

Oh and take a look at the Caldoofy Stage 1 Intake, and the LSD and header threads for some soon to come performance mods!!

Way to go Acemaster! She's very nice, enjoy. You'll recieve looks and nods wherever you go. Begin with: opening up the intake with a Mina intake and Caldoofy intake elbow. In combo with each other, these will allow her to generate up to an additional 24 rwhp and a noticeable increase in throttle response. Go for a Mina aluminum 1.7 lb pulley. A 3 lb. Eurotoys pulley (steel) will require grinding down the area of the blower's snout (approx. 4 hours labor). A pulley swap alone will develop between 15 and 25 more hp. Hi-flow cats will make it all come together, as the intake needs the exhaust unplugged, sucking much more air in, as well as more ease in expelling it out. A Magnaflow Tru-X center muffler with built in x-pipe will develop more torque and balance the cylinder banks for smoother power delivery. At this juncture, between 40 and 50 more hp has been realized as well as an authoritive Ameri-European note. Before deciding on aftermarket mufflers, first see how you like the new exhaust note.

Thanks for the compliment and all the information. How much hp gain would I get on the 3lb pulley from euro toys over mina's? Not sure if its cost effective for the extra 4 hours of labor to grind it down.

Also, you think its more comfortable and accurate feeling using mina's aluminum pedals?

I've done both pulleys and pesently use the 3 lb. My feelings and experience have came up with your assumption: based on cost and hours of labor to grind the snout for the 3 lb. pulley along with accelerated heat-soak, though it may lend an additional 10 chp for a short period of time...Mina 1.7 lb. pulley would be my choice. It's affordable, aluminum (less wear on front snout bearing), and easier to install.

Yeah, that makes sense. Any thoughts about mina's aluminum pedals?

I have really liked the Mina pedals. One thing to make sure of if you do order them is by all means talk to Chris and have him curve the pedals to match the factory setup. I had him curve mine and they fit beautifully. They wouldn't lay flat otherwise...

I will post some pictures for you to see tomorrow.

I don't think its 4 hours of additional time for the grinding. I did the 3 lb. pulley and the grinding took maybe 30 minutes, and about 4 hours for the whole removal and install process and I ran into problems with the pulley installer breaking and not being effective in pulling the old pulley off (had to cut it off completely). If you want it machined perfect, then you must pull the supercharger; if you want it ground so that it will work fine, then it takes about 30 minutes in my experience. That said, I would not do the installation again myself. I would recommend pulling the whole supercharger off and sending it to eurotoys and have them port the supercharger and install the pulley and do the machining if you go with the 3#.

Nice, sounds good. Did you use the rubber inserts that came with the pedals?
