I have a 2004 with nav system. I cannot get the 3D view, and in fact the 3D option does not show in the menu. I have updated to the latest DVD, but still no 3D option. Any comments would be appreciated. New member by the way, and very impressed with all the knowledge on this site.

 

I have a 2005 S-Type with navigation. I don't have a 3D view either. No menu option either. What makes you think this should be there?

On page 10, section 7 in my touch screen hand book under the heading "using perspective view", it shows menu screen entitled Display Options, and shows the following:-

Guidance Options

Map Options

2D/3D View

It goes on to say "when 3D is selected the screen shows the map display in perspective view with the angle adjustment control displayed on the screen."

Sorry, I forgot to mention that my menu screen only shows the two options, Guidance Options and Map Options, but no 2D/3D option - I was hoping that would show up with the updated disc.

 

Well this took a bit of digging.

There is no Touchscreen or navigation manual specific to the 2004. In the 2002-2003 year they had a Touchscreen manual. In 2005, it's the Navigation manual.

In the Touchscreen manual, the 2D/3D is shown as a menu option and the screens sort of show it. Under the "Display options" it is obvious that this is a software feature.

In the 2005 Navigation manual, the 2D/3D choice is gone.

Then I checked my car, a 2005 S-Type with current software. When I looked at the "Display Options" I did not have the 2D/3D choice.

It is likely that the "updated" version of the software you bought discards this feature.

Here is the deal, sad but true, If you have the Black Jag/Nav logo, no 3D. If you have the old Jag/Nav Green logo, 3D. Go figure. I updated from Green to Black and lost 3D. Maybe we could all get a charter flight to Castle Bromwich and ask?

Thanks Eric for the info, when I look at the fine print at the front of the touch screen manual, it does say published in 2002. Minor inconvenience in a great car.
