Navigation System Install
I have a 2003 Jaguar S Type and recently found a complete Navigation system with a touch screen unit for the center console. My kitten did not come with a nave system so I want to install this incredible score in my ride, Does anyone have suggestions, instructions or prayers to give me?
I've moved your question from General Tech Help to S-Type forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Before 'messing' with your car by adding things that were never included you might want to copy/download your VID block so that if anything goes awry, you will have the original 'build' of your car as it is presently.
Several networks will be involved here.
Do some research on Jaguar VID block and related networks.
I have posted TSBs and others have offered Jaguar documentation on this sort of thing.
Your car will likely NOT have the correct harness but it can probably be done.
Good Luck

This is where you are going to run into trouble..
Unless you have both a donor car and a Jaguar compatible diagnostic system capable of reading and configuring modules, you will likely become frustrated with the project.
Gone are the days of 'wiring-in' a cool sound system or dropping a 'big-block' into your car and getting what you want without the electrical guide and software.
To get things to 'integrate', you will need a grasp on the intricacies of 'Jaguar-speak' with the network and modules.
Diagnostic equipment is required to download the current VID block and then change things that are added.
It is doable but you don't just bolt the NAV unit in and plug up the wires.
Big project ahead.
Edited to add. TSB 1-186 VID Block – Background Information (Using WDS To Program/Configure Control
Modules – Common Issues/Solutions)

The cars don't have the same harnesses for ICE (NAV and except NAV) but the D2B network will allow some additions (CD changer etc.)
The NAV and Premium Sound are "Factory Fit Option Only" according to the D2B link lead matrix.
You would need to remove the existing harness and fit a replacement from a car already fitted with the option.
That is why I say you would need to configure things with the changeover.
Here is a parts TSB for the options on the network.

Thanks! So these parts are available at my Jaguar dealer? Also, how do I download module data and upload changes to my new installation? I have a code reader that interfaces with my laptop but have not been able to interface it with my system.
Unless you have the doner car and can also use the Jaguar IDS software, to be honest retro fitting NAV in a non NAV car is a non starter.
In short if you want an s-type with the Nav screen then you need to make sure the car you purchase has one fitted from new.

I have access to the car but it is at the junk yard and the battery is out. I have been looking into a IDS AND WDS accessory to get the information from the donor car and mine but am not sure how that works. Looks like it interfaces with the ECU via the OBDIi connection then with my lap top with Windows 10 via a USB port. Never done this before so am in a deep dark quandary at this point.
Thanks for your input it’s GOLDEN.
