Default navigation update not working??

Well first ill start by saying i have a 2004 STR

I recently made the mistake of pressing the update software button in the hidden menu a few months ago and after trying everything the back out and seemed like it was frozen i turned the ignition off...turned the car back on and nav doesn't work now...read days worth of info on it and found out it just needs a new update disk, after getting tired of seeing people on here saying theyll give out a copy and have no reply i just bought a new 2008 disk lol (old one being an 05)...so i get it delivered today and i do the following
Turn to ign. 2
Remove old disk
Turn off car
Start car
Insert new disk

And i got nothing, waiting 30min with car running and still nothing...

Any info / help or suggestions?
Thanks

Try:
car off with key out, leave new disc in nav
start car

and hope

If that fails, I'd try
car off with key out, leaving DVD in nav
disconnect battery
wait 10 secs
touch leads together
reconnect battery
start engine

Never leave key in above as car is not fully off if you do.

Is it a genuine DVD or a copy?

I will give it a try in a few hours and let you know how it goes and yes its a original disk not a burned copy.

Gave it a try and even unhooked the batter for 25 mins, you think if i let the battery sit unhooked for a day or two to let the memory of the radio erase and then try it if ill get any results?
