Question Need help on aftermarket parts

Hey guys! I want to change my headlights to HID and front grill for my 05 S-TYPE. I just want to dress her up slowly by starting on those two items, any suggestions will gladly appreciate.

Thank you.

Changing the halogen lights to HID will be a huge challenge. Especially with wiring and the auto leveling system.

Best to get a newer set of halogens lights from the wrecking yard and install a set of updated headlight adjusters.

There are options for the front grill based on your taste... Just my $0.02

As abanano says, installing oem hids on a none hid car is more trouble than it's worth, in fact I don't think anyone has done it it, but I'm sure someone will let us know if they have.

If you want hid lights probably best to go for an aftermarket kit, much cheaper and easier.

The few who've done it seem to have gone for non-jag due to it being much easier and not needing programming.

BTW don't do it anyone in the UK as it's an MoT fail.

As well it should be for good reason.

Regarding the mot in in the UK, it depends on the tester, i had aftermarket hids on an 06 fiesta and it passed an mot twice at different testers. I don't know weather they did not notice or didn't care or didn't realise it should have failed. I'd also removed the dpf/cat and I also had an airhorn instead of the oem one.

I belive hid lights need a washer system to be mot compliant.
Do they need to be self levelling?

Wow! I didn't realize it will be that difficult, but I appreciate all the info and advice guys. I guess I got some research to do regarding this HID, I better start on the grill for now then .

Thank you all!

Yes, powerwash + self-level. Now tested. If tester doesn't notice can lose their MoT status. Getting away with it is all very well but other people are probably getting semi-blinded, if not by you then some other person who's breaking the law. Long past time police pulled people and took car off road. We're pathetic here. All must have prizes. Everyone has rights. Apparently no-one has responsibilities. (Don't mean you, just a general observation.)

i didn't have those crazy bright blue light ones, just white and properly aligned so as not to draw attention to myself. i can't remember what k they were, i also had 100w bulbs in the main beam cos i used to do 500-600 miles a week on a and b roads on wales and found the standard headlights lacking, i had also replaced the actual oem headlight with "projector" type twin light units http://www.dvbcaraudio.co.uk/images/...-mk6-03-07.jpg again, this wasn't a vanity/cosmetic choice it was to increase light on the road.

when i took it for mot i had spare 55w bulbs in the glovebox in case it did fail.
