Default Need help finding out what's wrong with my 2003 Jaguar S-Type

I have a 2003 Jaguar S-Type, 8 cyl, only 75,000 miles. I have been having problems with the gear box fault light coming on. When it is on, the RPM's increase, like its not shifting gears, I will not drive it over 50 mph. If I turn the car off and back on, it goes away. Sometimes it will go a couple of weeks before it comes on, other times it can come on 10 times in a day. I took it to a transmission shop and they said that 7 of the 8 cylinders are missing fire. Also, when I slow to stop at a red light/stop sign, it jerks and feels like someone has rear ended you. Sometimes, it also rough when it changes gears. The battery is only 2 years old and this has been going on for the past several months. A repair shop kept it almost a month with not much help. Also, hot air only comes out of the 2 vents on the passenger side. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the trouble can be and what needs to be done to get it fixed? In the past, it has been to our local Jaguar dealership and lots of $$$ has been spent on repairs.

Welcome to the forum choco520,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Center to S-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Ignore the hot air for now (or read up on DCCV and fixes).

Suspect the battery. (Many threads for details.) Measure volts first thing in the morning before starting.

We can't help until you get the codes read. Then clear them all and drive the car. Recheck the codes and then post back.

Your descriptions don't help much as it could be many things.
