Need new remote, dealer item?

Rebuilding a 2004 S-Type and the remote is bad. Do I need to buy a new one and have the dealer reprogram it? Can I reprogram a used one from a different vehicle?

Yes, dealer & a few locksmiths. You can reuse a used one but the blade is unlikely to work the lock!

I have a bunch of the OEM remote electronic 4 button fobs that snap onto the flipping/folding key section. If you post either the P/N you are looking for or a picture, I will be able to tell if these will work.
