Maybe true- but does it have secret zombies that eat your brains like Jaguars?

I hope you did not buy that car! As has been said there is no maintenance on the airbag system, there is a fault somewhere. So the seller either lied to you or he is an idiot, or both.

My '03 has been the most reliable car I've ever owned (touch wood).

If you do buy one remember that owners have a secret oath to tell the non-cognoscenti that yes, they're horrible and bad and zombies will eat your brains. That will keeps the purchase value for your second and third one really low.

BTW- did you guys know that XK and XKRs, especially the 02 to 05 models really do have zombies that eat your brains? It's true! Sell me yours really cheap before it's too late.

I must have zombies, yes. Why else would I continue to drive and fix this "reef" waiting to happen? Bah, I didn't need all that extra brain anyway. As long as the lizard brain portion is intact, so I don't lose my degenerate status. And, so I can understand all of bfsgross's posts, as he is the "Lizard King."

Seth, Pittsburgh does not have any suitable oceanfront property for proper "reefing"....so I'll go ahead and try to make one in the river. Hopefully the Rover won't lock me in as I launch it off the bridge.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program!

Good choice. Make sure you make it very clear to your wife if you decide to split, you keep the car. This way, you won't lose much time and will probably get right back in the "saddle" again driving the jag.

LOL! Funny...A long time ago (25 years) while in a night club, a nice lass I was interested in referred to me as a "Lizard". Guess I came on too strong? Now back to the original interests of this thread.

Kyao, for the helluvit, there's an '07 S-Type at a dealership near you...Their initials are Penske M/B, not suggesting you buy from them, just another test drive.
Cars.com shows bunches of them around here..If you feel adventurous, click on the 500 mile radius...

Thanks Chris and Jay, I found this and I think it looks really good, checks out on autocheck. It's in NorCal but if it's good I'm willing to fly there to get it and drive it back. My wife used to go to Berkeley but unfortunately she didn't make friends with anyone who know much about cars.
So my question is: how should I go about contacting the dealer? I think it's stressful enough buying a car near home as it is, I'm scared that it'd be much more so trying to buy one so far away.

I would make a general inquiry first with their 888-# or email them.
Ask for a carfax report also before you go much further..any negatives that might show up, you want to be aware of.

I called the dealer and asked for the carfax and some general questions.
What worries me is that there weren't any records on the car from 33 miles all the way up to 59k miles. And there's one point says "VIN glass etching", what does that mean?
Dealer says the price isn't negotiable because it's internet price, do you think I could bring the price down more? He told me the car has been on the lot for 4 months. I was thinking if the car is good, 17k out the door should be a good price, yes?

Here, we sometimes etch the VIN into the glass (of the windows). Not too obvious unless you look.

Was more common when cars had next to no security. Pretty pointless for an S-Type I reckon, with its good security.
