Question O2 sensor location

Hullo Gang, I need help (my wife calls it male blindness!)
Could someone please tell me where the O2 sensors are located on a 2003 S Type R?. I have had a look through the forum but the articles on O2 sensors are a bit ambiguous as to their location.
Regards jim.

I think these are before and after the cats, in the exhaust system.

They are. Get under car and look up. The pipes parallel to the ground are exhausts, the angled heading up out of view are the cats and you can see things a bit bigger than spark plugs sticking out with wires - those are the O2s.

If tempted to do anything bear in mind they are DIFFERENT types front & rear and must be the right types. Also, they are commonly in VERY tight. You can check them using OBD - no need at all to get under the car till you've done that. Cheap OBD tool like ELM327 about $10 amazon or ebay.

Not much room and, as JagV8 says, they are usually VERY tight.

This should help you identify the individual sensors. ( click on the diagram to enlarge it )

Thank you all for your help, I shall get the ODB II reader first to confirm that the O2 sensor is faulty before touching anything.
Thanks again.

Hello everyone. I have connected the OBD and showed me the error: p0153 (unit 2 sensor 1), p0136 (unit1 sensor 2). Where the unit 1 and 2 - I figured out. And where the sensor 1 and 2 cannot. Help me to understand.

The sensors are in the exhaust system, before and after the the catalytic converter.

Not sure of your model but this sight has a breakdown of codes and links to parts. Also there is a diagram in post 4 above.

jaghelp.com: Jaguar S-type Oxygen sensor codes: P0131, P0132, P0133, P0135, P0136, P0138, P0141, P0151, P0152, P0153, P0155, P0156, P0158, P0161

from the exhaust manifold on the engine going back...

The O2 sensor between the exhaust manifold and the converter is BEFORE as you labeled it or "upstream" and the O2 sensor after the converter is "AFTER" or "downstream"..

it means that the sensor 1 is before the catalytic Converter, sensor 2 is after. Right ?

I have not taken off the oxygen sensors on my car. But after clicking (enlarging) on the diagram in post 4, you can see that 1 and 4 sensors (right and left) are before the catalytic converter and 2 and 3 sensors are after it. The legend in the diagram explains the numbers.

So, as I see it, you are right. Good luck.
