Default Oil Leak

Hi everyone,

I went to check my oil the other day and noticed some leakage from a plug thing on the engine. Just wondering what this is and if I can do a simple replacement of the seal or something.

Thanks much,

Thanks. Do you think I have to look for a coil or plug thats bad along with replacing the seal?

Thanks!

while your in there you might as well check the plugs and coils for any sign of oil and replace ALL gaskets, personaly, for what they cost, i would change the plugs too.

I think I'd wipe the sensor and area clean and see how long it takes for new oil to accumulate. Might not be worth bothering with.

Might be worth checking the crankcase ventilation system too--excess pressure is always good for creating oil leaks.

I just replaced the valve gasket, spark plug seals, as well as the VVT gasket. It's only been a few days, but I'm seeing oil slowly seep out of the inside (between gasket & VVT). WTH? I'm assuming this is pretty normal with these cars, just like the other "common" problems. Should I just seal it off with some Permatex?

Two Pictures below: Passenger side, which I just replaced and then the Driver side, haven't gotten there yet!

Actually, not normal I hate to say. Did you use Jaguar OEM VVT seal or aftermarket?

The seal appeared to be identical to the old one I pulled out, same Jaguar part #. Is it possible that the seal is defective, or maybe I didn't clean the VVT good enough? When I first noticed the leak, it almost looked like the oil was coming from the sensor itself, right below the plug. Don't even know if that's possible, but there was some oil on the VVT head. Is there more than one seal for these things? I dunno.... still learning about this car, and I'd had it almost 2 years.
