Default OK - What's this and where does it go?

In doing my extensive service I also pulled out the front RH fender liner and now that I'm getting ready to put everything back I cannot figure out what this is?

It's close to that indentation in the fluid reservoir that does have two ridges extruded in it as though something slides into it but this doesn't seem to do that?

There's been service (by others) in this area before to replace the front bumper skin so is it possible they left a retaining bracket out or something?

Or am I just being dense?

Is it electrical? How many wires? What colours? For headlamp washers you don't have?

It's raining outside right now so I'll have to wait on the wire colors but those two circular metal end things seem to be spring loaded?

Two wires both look relatively heavy duty, much more than is needed for a sensor?

1 - black
1 - brown with a red stripe.

Well that makes some sense. Those spring load connection points seem a bit odd but then I'm not seeing the other connect!

I'm doing a cooling system flkush so in the next go round I'll put my meter on there have a look.

There is a similar plug located in the same area that is unused in the V6 vehicles as well.

My guess would be that you're holding the plug for the adaptive cruise control option, the self-leveling headlamps option, or the automatic headlamp washer option....

And since the later STRs don't have foglights, it could be for those as well....

It's just a blanking plug to keep debris from an unused connector. The car ifs FULL of them.

I see that it has a cover to protect the connector but as it's not utilized the question is what is it for in that location?

I don't see one on the other side.
