Default Ongoing electronic park brake problem

Hi,
As some of you will know from a previous post I have been having issues with my parking brake not working. It shows Park Brake failure in the message centre.
I have done the reset with no effect.
Fuses all ok.
I have just got a JLR mongoose and now have it up and running after many frustrating hours getting it to work!
The mongoose software will not communicate with the park brake module. It appears with a red cross through it.
I cant find any other options to try now so to me it looks like I need to get a new module?
Can anyone throw some views on this before I go ahead and buy a module?
Thanks in advance,
John.

Have you done the (electrical, especially) checks I expect are in JTIS so you know if it has power, is on the network and so on? I wouldn't pay for a module without doing those.

If there are other modules also not visible by IDS then you have further hints as to what may be wrong.

I have checked the module has it's 12v supply and checked the ground resistance.
I have checked the JTIS manual and it asks for fault codes but none are displayed so at a loss as what checks to do. I will have to wait for the weekend and go through all the checks listed.

Yes, I see your point. Could be a fault with the can bus. I would expect to see a fault code showing though. I have recently had problems with the can bus on another car but that did report the problem. Hope it's dry Sunday so I can get stuck in!

Where do you think the fault would come from?!?!?!?! You HAVE got a fault - you said "will not communicate with the park brake module. It appears with a red cross through it."

Red face Getting there...

I ordered a second hand brake module that has arrived today. Fitted the module and checked communication with the Mongoose. All now ok. I have operated the park brake using the laptop. All I have to do now is reconnect the park brake cables to the calipers ( as the last owner disconnected!) and run the set up and hopefully will have a working handbrake!
Also found ABS rear right sensor getting no signal and rear left sensor missing pulses, may be the geared ring missing teeth so that will be a new drive shaft. Hopefully get chance to have wheel off tomorrow and have a closer look. At least things are moving forward now. Took the car for a drive the weekend and it's just how I remember my last jag to be, just Purrrrs along! Just a shame the parts are so expensive..

Right, just done the set up for the park brake. Found both rear calipers seized so they had to be stripped down first. All put back together after winding back the pistons and I now have a working park brake!
Next job ABS sensors...
