Jon89's beloved S Type has become the MagJag some years ago. I was driving home yesterday with Todd, Maggie's father when Maggie video phoned. S Type was a quarter tank full, Maggie attempted 2 pumps, when fueling gas would rush out of the fill port. A 3rd pump at different has station worked fine.
I know when GM trucks are "topped off" after the first full kick off, the carbon canister gums up causing this refuel problem.
I have searched here and of course Google, to no avail. I am turning the experts here for ideas.
I am just speaking of prior exp with the evap code in general. I have had that code on 2 gm vehicles. Replaced the vent and purge valve and cured it. The k sensor code is one i have never seen just go away. Usually needs sensor replacement or broken wire. If you have access to a scope you can rap on the block or near the sensor and see how it reacts on the scope
Ok a little follow up. There are 2 different types of vent canisters that were used. One is readily available at dealer and big box stores the other obsolete, only replacement is from a wrecker. Magjag needed the obsolete one.
These canisters are hidden above the rear axle/pumkin. They are not DIY friendly!! If you need to replace I strongly suggest cutting sheet metal in the trunk to access.
Since Todds is obsolete we took a hammer and worked over the canister as much as we could access. So far Maggie has not had an issue of gas pump shutting off immediately when attempting to fill gas tank.
