2000 S-Type 3.0 V6 - 122,000 miles w/ sport package
Got the Jaguar in the shop to fix the bad coil pack and the code it is showing is P1580 - Electronic Throttle Monitor PCM Override. Anyone seen this before? It has all the signs of a bad coil pack (misses when idling, rpm's jumpingup after the miss, real jerky acceleration especially at lower rpm's - it had this problem before the check engine light came on) but the code is showing different. Currently thinking about cleaning the throttle body... Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

p1580 is for TPS circuit fault. looks like you need a new tps sensor.. i think you can get them separate from the throttle now.. before had to buy the whole $1700 throttle body. check the connector 1st.

Thanks for the info! I guess you can only get the tps sensor from a Jaguar dealer? And that would cause the car to buck during acceleration and seem like a miss while idling? It is much worse when the engine is under a heavy load at lower rpm's. Once you downshift, it smooths out some... Thanks again.
It can cause those issues yes. You may have a bad coil still or lower breather hoses split. Sometimes will not set the light. Dealer can use GDS to check coil misfire count.

Uh, fuel pump.... when turning the ignition on check for the woosh...sound by the back seat (passenger side) if you don't hear it you need to check: inertia switch, fuse, relay - if they all check - get ready to have your fuel pump(s) replaced.Originally Posted by leroy1
