PCV valve replacement
The car is a 2000 S-Type 4.0L V-8. Ordered a pcv valve from dealer and they sent one that was wrong. I sent them a photo of the pvc and they are saying must buy the entire cam cover and the pcv is built in. THAT MAKES ZERO SENSE TO ME. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

There are online parts places including forum sponsors - take a look / call them, but sadly it may be that is how it is. However, you can no doubt find used one cheaply or figure out the actual part (look closely at it).

The cover is fine. That would be a bear to remove the cover and replace it at $290.00 just to replace a $16 part. I took this cover off to replace the tensioners. I hope someone can find the part. Thank you.
Jag, I looked everywhere and this pcv is actually built into the Cam Cover. No way I wanted to pay 290 for a new cover. I had the gaskets so I took this cover off to see what was under the tube. It is NOTHING like any pcv I've ever seen. Anyway, I cleaned all the parts to this breather. It has the cover plate and two wire mesh filters inside and tabbed to the top of the Cam Cover. I also found the service technical bulletin where Jag instructed how to maintain it.

I didn't have to take the CC off. You use a 3/32 drill bit and by hand, turn to clear the hole every 10,000 miles. Mine was plugged up. Mission accomplished. Thank you for the replies.

Good find! Did you have any symptoms that led you to look at the PCV valve? Or were you just planning to replace it for routine maintenance?

KR,
I watched a Scotty Kilmer video about oil usage. He said if you start using oil, all of a sudden, check the pcv first. If it is clogged replace/clean it first and see if that fixes it. The excess pressure will cause oil to be pumped into your throttle body intake, and can cause gasket leakage. Mine was a mess. Cleaned it up and the oil stayed full all week. If the oil continued to burn, it is deeper than the fix. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens over the next few weeks.
