Hi Forum, I just picked my car up from the dealer today. The check engine light had came on and the code was P1316 and P1111. The dealer supposedly replaced all the coils and plugs on the even bank as well as replaced the thermostat. Well, I live about 20 miles from the dealer and the car didnt even make it home without issues. As soon as I gave it some throttle, a lot of throttle, it bucked and the CEL came back on as well as the restricted performance warning. It stays on for about 30 seconds to a minute, then goes out. When I tried giving it some gas a 2nd time, the same thing happened. Also, when it is moving, it doesn't feel as if the engine is running smooth.......it seems like it pulsating slightly. I just gave the dealer 2k. I should be able to go 20 miles. Any thoughts on what it could be or what I should check will be extremely helpful for the "conversation" I'm going to have with the dealer in the morning. Thanks guys.

 

When the car goes into restricted performance it limits the RPM’s from going over I think 2000rpm +/- a few. Do you have an OBDII reader to check the codes? You say they replaced all the coils and plugs so my guess without the codes I would be checking the MAFS plug and the intake from the filter box to the throttle body for any leakage.

 

I dont have a OBDII reader, which I probably should get. They only replaced the coils/plugs on the even bank...or so they say.

 

Yes but to get to the plugs they need to remove a few things. Check for loose pipes and hoses.

 

elm327 is $10-15, just get one

Maybe flattish battery - causes lots of trouble.

 

Tell the dealer WTF? They should correct on their own dime and you need to have the dealer perform an extended test drive (local/freeway) after repairs. +1 on flattish battery though as JagV8 pointed out... Good Luck
