Default played with fuses now crank but no start

I was looking for a fuse to add some Daytime running lights in the engine compartment and the passenger fuse box. I maybe pulled 10 fuses and put them bac. Now jag cranks but wont start. I unplugged negative battery cable for 5 min and reconnected but same problem? Any suggestions on what I did or need to try?

Thanks

Have You Tried Re-Seating The Fuses? Maybe You Shorted One When Reinstalling Them?

I bet he tripped the alarm immobilizer. Tow it to the dealer.

Below is the link to the driver's handbook for your model. In chapter 5, p24 to p 30 there is a list of fuses and uses. The handbook has been invaluable to me in finding electrical issues and I have been getting in the habit of disconnecting the battery prior to touching the electrics.

Also, it might be worthwhile disconnecting the battery for a bit longer than 5 minutes just in case it is this simple to re-set your issue.

Well good news - this morning I figured I'd give it one more try before work and it took about 10 seconds of cranking but finally turned over and ran normally.

I'm thinking I did need to do the battery reset but I probably flooded the car trying to start it so much last night before I did the battery disconnect and then when I went to try again after i reconnected the battery it was a different no start problem (flooded). Then this morning the gas had time to evaporate and allowed to start. Just a rookie guess?

Thanks for the help though - glad I din't have to tow to the dealer!

Well guess I was wrong - tried starting again today and won't start again. I can hear the fuel pump so thinking perhaps it's a loose wire or relay perhaps I loosene something when working under the hood. I'll try jiggling some things while the wife cranks and see if I can get it figured out.

Default Tapped engine fuse box and started but now rough idle & sulfer smell

So I got my wife to turn the key while I tapped/pressed on the fuses in the engine compartment fuse box and it started! .... But now symptoms are

- idle is really rough - let it sit for about 5 min in driveway then,
- I drove it around the block a coupe times and feels like it's misfiring badly.
- parked back in driveway and it won't rev past about 2800 rpm when in park and pedal pressed all the way down.
- Keeps running and doesn't stall out.
- Sulfer smell from the exhaust.
-
I Shut it off and started it back up immediately and it started but same problem persists.

Had none of these problems the other day when it started after not starting problem the day before. - seems like a new problem.

I wonder if there was lots of excess fuel from trying to start quite a bit a few hours ago. perhaps tomorrow morning once fuel in system evaporates it will be OK?

I would normally think EGR Valve or vac hose problem but still wondering if this is something to do with playing around with the fuses as it was running fine up till then (although it did have an occasional misfire before).

Anyone think of what in the engine compartment fuse box could be the cause of the symptoms above or what I tapped in the fuse box that let it start?

Thanks

It may be one (or both) of:
1. you'd cut power to the PCM and have forced it to relearn (see drive cycle in JTIS if you want to do it faster)
2. you have a fault (read OBD codes)

I'd do #2 immediately if not sooner.

Just following up after figuring out the problem I had. Basically it was a loose fuse/not seated properly in the engine fuse box.

The rough idle and sulfer smell I described was just extra unburnt fuel from trying to start. Problem went away once I let it sit a day.

I put in new plugs and coils and now it runs good no more misfire or rough idle or problems going up hills.

I had the new elbow I was going to install but once I got down to it it was in great shape so I just left it.

PS learned my lesson about the Jag electronics not being something to mess around with until lots of research is done.

I Would Change The Oil. All The Fuel That Was In The Cylinders Is Now In Your Oil.

The DTL are programmed to the car with the Jaguar diagnostic computer. Why would you hard wire them when you can 'enable/disable' with configuration???
