Smile Procedure to Bleed Cooling System

Been searching but just haven't been able to find the procedure for bleeding cooling system for 2001 SType 4.0. Please help me. Car is home sick. Parked 50 miles from home.

I can't speak directly for the 4.0, but my 2001 3.0 bled as follows:

Start the car with overflow tank cap off.

Top off coolant level then Rev to 2500rpm for 5 mins, topping off as needed.

Put cap back on.

I did not need to mess with bleeder points on the lines, but you may have to depending on what repair was performed.

the 4.0 needs to be bled through the bleeder hose, which is located next to the master cylinder. JTIS outlines the procedure well. Again, free here on the site.

The 1999 model has this as the only bleed point, do these self bleed ,the manual says dont run the engine with the header cap removed ,look at my threads as you can download the 5000 odd pages of the Jaguar manual .....here is a pic of what i have to work with..

What a way to resurrect a 6 year old thread.

Hi, how do you bleed the 3.0L X200 on a 1999 which is very different to the 2000,I changed the rad and CVV, I have had that plug out before, it kinda pops out, I am not convinced this is the highest point, hence the funnel to get it to the right level, and put a cable tie round it to prevent it ever popping out.it looks like some device that is supposed to pop out if pressure is too great, that's a guess, I have been told they self bleed, I can only imagine its through the cap.
