Default Pulleys 3lb vs. smaller ones

Now, I just ordered a minagallery pulley , and was thinking is there really a huge difference between that one and eurotoys 3 lb? Im not racing it or anything and with intake tube and exhaust i think ill be pretty happy, the cars already too fast stock. LOL, just saying because they are roughly the same price?

I went with the Mina pulley bc the 3lb pulley requires supercharger snout to be griinded down and I didn't want to jeapordize the integrety of its structure. It's plenty fast

I went 3# because if I'm going through all that hassle to swap the pulley, I'm just gonna go with what gives me the best gains.

jsupstarz, you'll be plenty happy with the 1.7 lb. aluminum Mina Gallery pulley. I ran it, and it was very close to the effects of the 3 lb. Eurotoys pulley. Stock, the Eaton 112 blower is at its max, so why push it too far? Forum member "Avos", has just informed me that he's very close to wrapping up an adaptor to fix a twin screw to the STR. This alone can translate into a 200 chp gain. An STR with: K&N a/f, modded air intake tube, twin screw blower, long tube headers, hi-flow cats, x-pipe, and flow through mufflers will likely develop an estimated 600+ chp. Avos's 2000 XKR with a transplanted 4.2, has a twin screw, stock exhaust, and no ECU tune develops 635 chp. For now play around with a smaller pulley. Soon one day we'll recieve the good news....

I don't see how the STR can crank up another 200hp without a tune? I would imagine that it will drive the ECU crazy, and you will need to tune the air/fuel mixture and probably add extra injector or a piggyback FMU so you don't run lean. I turbo'd a normally aspirated Mercedes and only put 6 lbs of boost and I had to get a piggyback FMU. And how will the transmission hold up? And will you be constantly having the traction control kicking in all the time?

I'm excited for the twin screw option but I will let others be the guinea pig first because I'm sort of unsure of all the potential draw backs.

underpressure, I can definitely relate to your concerns regarding potential fallout follow upping the forced induction on the STR. Avos's 2000 twin screw XKR has the identical motor, ECU (without tune), ZF trans., and exhaust as our STR. After a few years he reports no problems. The venerable ZF trans. does a decent job transfering the power to the differential. Since Avos runs a LSD differential, perhaps this helps preserve the differential by splitting the torque to each axle?

The way to know is to do it and remember avos has. It's not the same PCM as the cars you mention so not comparable. But looking at AFRs will be essential

Ditto to jagv8. The STR's PCM (ECU) is quite advanced, powerful, and adaptive.
