its really a ford radio in the pre facelift cars, i have a code generator that works out the security code from the serial number.
If you check my previous posts i have given a couple of members on here their correct radio code and also used it on a couple of friends cars.
its on my site here https://www.mediafire.com/?b25f2dmn2rac33i
**EDIT**
here is one such post https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...roblem-112174/

The message ENTER CODE shows you do have a code locked radio.
Try pressing [A.Mem + PTY + >>] at the same time as suggested by Jeff in #3 above to bypass this.
If this doesn't work, you will need the four digit code. In vehicles requiring a code this is originally on two (credit card sized) cards and looks like this:
Attachment 21003
As you don't have the code cards, options are:
1. check for the number written on the radio unit itself
2. contact any Jaguar Dealer (with proof of ownership)
3. use one of the services listed on eBay that claims to be able to get the security code from the radio serial number
As there is no connection between the radio serial number of my radio and the security code, I do wonder just how the eBay listers claim to be able to do this.

I believe you are on the wrong forum for your XKR.
However, s types have a card (credit card size) with the 4 digit radio code number in the Jaguar wallet that comes with all the paperwork. If you don't have the card, I have read that sometimes the dealer will write the code under the bonnet on a label.
Deciphering your Jaguar Radio Code
In my case you put in the four digits using the first four numbers on the display and then hit the fifth button and the radio comes alive.
In any case, as suggested in the posts above, you can contact the dealer with proof of your ownership and they can provide the code.
Hope this helps. But you should try the other forum.

hicat,
Paul792 is right that you have posted this question in the wrong Model section. In addition, I think your 2004 XKR will have a later design audio unit for which there is definitely no button combination bypass for the radio security code.
If you radio looks like this one in my 2005 XK8 ......
...... then contact your local Jaguar Dealer and request the 4 digit security code. I've read very few reports of dealers charging to look up this information.

Radio Code Saga con't.
Sorry for posting in the wrong forum! So i finally pulled the radio and sure enough it's not the same serial no. that's on the OEM cards! Guess i'll hafta call the dealer on Mon.
While i was at it i removed the TCS, cleaned it, bent the prongs up a bit, and put a couple dabs of solder on a few of the suspicious-looking posts that connect the wiring to the circuit board. Lo and behold, i got my manual shift and sport mode back! Fingers crossed that it will last...
Tomorrow i'll take a stab at fixing the driver side window that keeps slipping.
These forums have been invaluable and saved me many thous that would have otherwise gone to my mechanic.
Many thanks to Graham & Paul!!

Slipping windows on your model are a classic early warning of a partially discharged or failing battery.

my XJ required a code
The battery of my 2004 XJ-8 died over the weekend and it took me 3 days to get a replacement. I guess that exceeds the max time allowed by the circuitry and it required a code to get the radio working again.
BTW, the battery was only a little over a year old and it just crapped out. It was an interstate battery and they replaced it free of charge, no hassles with depreciation.

The local dealer got me my key code from the VIN number but said the radio code was not available unless I provided him the radio serial number conveniently located on the back of the radio chassis.
He said they would be happy to pull the radio and get me the info and it would be about an hours labor charge to do that.
My radio has stopped receiving AM stations. Probably getting even with me for trying to fix the intermittent brake lamp. I guess they didn't completely quit using Lucas parts.

Well, on the same matter but a different note. I am putting in a VOICE command box. It say's You must enter the radio security code before being able to activate the voice command for the first time. So, with that being said. Does anyone actually know what the code is if the books were not in the car when you got yours? If I have to call Jaguar and give them my VIN number and DL. Then so be it, but I would like to get my voice command up and running as soon as all the parts arrive. Thank you. John
