S Type 2005 rhd 2.7 TDSE, rapid beeping from dashboard when key in auxilliary position, radio will not power up in this position, after some seconds park brake indicator has a few flashes then settles. Would love hear any ideas as what could cause this, thanks in advance for any advice and help!

 

1. Check to see if your transmission is in park

2. Check out your battery. Most likely this is the culprit however. Most symptoms seem to be the result of a flaky battery.

 

Also check the 2 bolts on trans side that hold the shifter cable mechanism. If loose or missing the trans is confused.

 

JagV8 and CarelM thanks for your input on this annoying little fault. Having no garage facilities makes life a bit harder, but I got it checked out by a garage who have a very good electrical/electronics reputation. Turns out the owner also has a Jag mechanical/electrical specialist mate too.
The fault apparently lies with a solenoid in the J gate. Solenoid not available as spare, so they are looking for a guranteed used J gate as it's under a 3 month warranty.
