Rapid beeping when Key Removed??

Default Rapid beeping when Key Removed??

This just started the last couple days.... almost every time I shut car off and remove key a rapid beeping happens for about 5 seconds then stops. When come back to the car and open the door it does it again.

Ive personally never seen this, but im sure someone here knows whats up??

When the various electronics in these cars begin to do crazy or unusual things, the first suspicion is always a weak or dying battery....

Mine does that when the shift ever is not fully in the park position.

thats what I was thinking...I called jag and they told me most likely it is the parking brake not fully engaging afer shut down....they also stated they can run an update to overide the alarm

Sounds like the shift lever but not to do with the brake.

If you mess with the lever you should be able to cause it at will to check whether it's the noise signifying that.

Turning off the engine with the transimission select levet in gear will cause the same thing.

Perhaps the shift cable is slipping out of adjustment?

My "03 does this some times also. When I turn the key on I sometimes show a park brake fault. I checked my brake pads and they were good, so I'm hoping it's the old battery that's the problem.

Yes, I get the rapid beeping .... perhaps five times in the last six weeks when I've shut off the car and also when I restart it after that. Two times I've had the park brake fault notice come up with the rapid beeping.

Probably separate faults. If they are, the rapid beeping is as per this thread, but if they're not then probably battery failing.
