Question Rear Shock SType 2002

I suddenly have this horrible groaning squeak coming from the rear driver's side. I thought it might be shocks but when I try to find the right part I get asked if the car has ADS or adaptive dynamic suspension. How do I know if it has it or not?

Thanks!

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but I can't find anything specific that says this model has it or doesn't. The VIN number doesn't reveal anything. I read several other post about creaking and groaning from the rear driver's side suspension and have checked all the bushings and everything appears to be in order and in fact, fairly new. Any help much appreciated!

If you will open your hood and look at either shock tower. If it has a wire with a small plug that is plugged into the top of the shock, then you have adaptive shocks. With no plug, you have regular shocks. Bilstein is the best company that makes both. You may have to remove a cover to see the top of the shock, but the wire is right on top. Do yourself a favor and do NOT unplug it. Can cause codes of you don't do it correctly.

"Groaning squeaks" are often ball-joint related, so check these components carefully in your investigations into the source of the new suspension noise...
