Angry Rear strut bushing and control arm ball joint help!!

So price spending routine continues. The state inspector who inspected my car didn't even inspect the components the right way. I heard some mild clunky noise from the front and rear since I bought the car 3 months ago. I finally had time to get it on the jack stand and looked at the joints.

Basically all front upper and lower ball joints including tie rod boots were busted and probably have leaked the grease by now.

Rear side torque/tie rods, stabilizer links, lower strut bushings and upper rear control arm ball joint boots were also busted.

I just ordered front suspension and steering parts including the ball joint with steering knuckle assembly but for the rear I only ordered the torque rods and stabilizer links. The upper rear control arm is quite pricy ( almost close to $ 300 each)and I cant find the lower strut bushings online. Can anyone help me with it?

Thanks of the reply. My control arm bushings are bad but also the ball joint is bad. The rear strut bushings I can replace probably but the rear upper control arm will cost some money to replace

Similar problem with the cars age all of the rubber bushings, ball joints etc. are disinagrated and need replacing.

Just replaced bushings in the rear and got new stab. arms & links and found out I also have bad lower strut/shock bushings in rear so that's the next thing on my list.

I hear form the forum that the front lower shock bushing and rear lower shock bushing are actually the same part.

I just ordered these cheap e-bay bushings hoping they will work for the rear lower shock bushing replacement on my 2000 S-type.

I don't know how in your countries but in Poland we have a specialist who regenerate bushings and ball joint. What's more this regeneration has a quality of Lemforder/Meyle/Febi products and it's cheap.

For example rear down control arm in Poland costs about 2200zł (500 euro) - Lemforder. The regeneration costs about 400-600zł (100-150 euro).

I checked my rear upper control arm , it seems to me the bushings are intact but the dust boot is gone!!, just because of that I don't feel like spedning a lot of money, I am hoping i can buy universal boots and grease them.

Are the bushings in the upper control arm not the same "hydra" bushings as in the lower control arm? If so the "dust boot" might be the actual rubber that holds in the hydra fluid?

Just to clarify when I said I got the bushings replaced in mine I only did the lower control arm hydra bushings.

I've just had all the Bushes done on rear lower and upper wishbones , I got the bushes from OnlyBushes which are on eBay for a fraction of the costs that you would pay for a complete wishbone arm .

The Rods were also replaced , Jaguar dealer got them and cost about €70 a piece .

I've written a post on here explaining the costs and the general saga I had with getting my Jag sorted , take a look and you will get an overview on the costs of getting everything done .

So the Jaguar’s horrible rear squeak noise problem from the rear suspension has finally been remedied at a cost of $1500. This was the cost with buying my own parts and finding local garage labour at a decent price.
A couple local repair garages were quoting me over $4000 for this repair and I can’t even imagine what the Jaguar Dealership would have charged.
The parts below had to be replaced to remove the squeaking/screeching noise I was experiencing at low speed:
• 2 per side Hydra bushings in the rear lower control arms ($320 for all 4): Jaguar s Type Rear Lower Control Arm Fluid Hydrabushes Bushing Bushings Set 4 | eBay
• 1 per side Hydra bushings for the lower shock/strut which also attach to the lower control arms ($60 for both). 2 Rear Lower Shock Absorber Bushing Jaguar XJ8 04 10 XF XK 06 12 s Type 99 08 | eBay
I also had to replace these parts that were deemed to be faulty:
• Rear Suspension Control Arm Links – ($150 for both)
• Rear stabilizer links Moog K750339 & K750340 Sway Bar Link Kit ($100 for both)
Labour was about 8 hours total and included removing the control arms and pressing in the new bushings (FYI they need to use the supplied washers that came with the bushings to make them wide enough). Note the control arms are aluminum and they noted the bushings were at a difficult angle for what that’s worth). The also had to drop out the complete strut/shock assembly to press them in but did not need to separate the coil from the shock. The stabilizer bar and links were installed easily when re-assembling. Rear wheel alignment is also required – I have an appointment next week to get that done.
Still notice a slight squeak from the front end when going over bumps at speed but I did not see anything on the front suspension that looked like an issue – I’ll have the shop that does the alignment do a front end suspension check to see if they can find the issue.
